Little miss popular

We've all been sick this week (and part of last) with really bad colds.  Bruce also developed an eye infection (crusty stuff in the eyes, yuck!) and was kind enough to pass it along to me.  It is terrible and I am stuck wearing my glasses as opposed to my contacts which I am no longer used to and that are not even the same prescription as my contacts.  I sure hope it doesn't linger much longer!

So Linda has also been sick with the cold (no eye infection though, Bruce only loves ME that much to pass it along) but had still been going to school.  I decided to keep her home Wednesday since she had been up most of the night coughing.  I sent her Thursday, and at lunch time we got a call from the school saying Linda had thrown up in class and to come get her.  (I thought she only had a cold, not sure what brought that on, but she only got sick the one time).  So when James went to get her, the secretary at the school mentioned how Linda was the ONLY Linda in all the 530 something people at that school and that EVERYBODY knew who Linda was.  They also said that Linda is really sweet and that everybody likes her :)  She is pretty outgoing, so this seems fitting.
3 weeks into school, and she's already well known.  We've got ourselves a little miss popular over here.  Now I hope she can stay as nice and sweet to everyone as she is now and not turn out to be one of those mean popular girls.

They are having a family Terry Fox walk at school with a special lunch, so she really wanted to go today.  I wish I could be there too to see little miss popular in action, but I'm too sick to go :(

I too think Linda is really sweet, and I like her a lot too! (well love, I love her a lot, but I like her too!)  She sure is popular in my heart!

Love you little miss popular, I mean Linda!

Happy 4th Birthday Linda Lou!

It's been four years since this sweet little girl came into our lives.

She's still so cute and sweet four years later!

We were able to celebrate her birthday on Saturday, complete with pizza, cake, gifts and lots of party guests!

She had lots of fun opening her gifts as each person arrived (and judging by Bruce's reaction, he was pretty excited too!)

She made out with lots of nice things like clothes, books, a music box, necklace, a very pretty picture frame her BFF Julia made for her among other things.  (oh, and a tent that James and I got for her but forgot to give her until all the party guests were already gone)  Yup, she got spoiled!

And take a look at this awesome pricess carriage cake that Special made for her!  Thanks Special, the cake was better than we could have hoped for!

Here she is blowing out the candles with the help of the professional candle blowers, Kelden and Julia!  (for some reason Julia doesn't show up in the picture, but I know she was there helping too!)

Party guests included (if you believe me seeing as I didn't get many pictures of the people at the party) :  My mom, dad and sister, Special and Grampa Bruce, Keld, Catherine, Julia, Kelden, Zack and of course James, Bruce and I.

I did capture this gem though, Grampa Bruce's traditional goofy face, a sweet smile from the birthday girl and my sister's traditional squinty eyes.

Bruce was also dancing up a storm at the party to the birthday song.

Linda had a great time at the party, thanks to everyone for all they did and for sharing her special day with her!

I sure do love that little girl, more than words can express.  She has filled our lives with so much joy these last four years.  I can't wait to see her continue to grow and learn as the years go on.

JK

Linda finnished her first week of junior kindergarten and absolutely LOVED it!
I have to admit I was a bit worried about how she would react to it since she had never really been away from me for nearly 4 years, but my worries were for nothing.

Even on her first day, she bounced out of bed and happily got all ready for her first day.  She didn't think twice about climbing on that school bus and waving goodbye to us with a big smile on her face.

When she got back, she declared school to be her "most favorite place in the whole world!"

(getting off the bus at the end of the day)

She loves her teacher (Mme. Vipond) and loves her little friends.  She loves the interaction she gets and is very eager and willing to learn.

There have been no tears and each night she goes to bed good for me in order to, she says "get lots of rest to be ready for school".  (a full day is really long for little ones, so she is pretty tired at bedtime)

She loves it so much, in fact, that she was sad she didn't get to go to school Saturday.

I'm so glad she has had such a positive experience and outlook with school, and hope it continues that way.

(the sticker reads "my first day was a piece of cake!"

Bruce missed having his big sister around to play with, but since we were staying at Special and Grampa Bruce's, he got lots of use out of his other "friends".  Sidenote:  I'm not so sure THEY
enjoyed his company so much.

Have a great first year of school Linda, we're so proud of you!

Credit where it's due

I neglected to mention the fact that uncle Keld is the reason Bruce roars like a monster.  In fact, whenever he sees uncle Keld, he roars at him :)
